Couldn't make it to WSI '09? Here's what you missed...

More than 1,000 participants from across the United States and around the globe attended the second WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Exposition, October 7-9, 2009 at the South Point Hotel and Conference Center in Las Vegas.

The second WSI offered 130 professional sessions in a variety of tracks as well as an expo hall featuring nearly 100 exhibitors. There are photos and more information below.

WaterSmart 2009 Speakers and Keynote

Presented by the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) in partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) WaterSense Program, the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and other leading national and international organizations, WSI offered 130 professional sessions in a variety of tracks as well as an expo hall featuring nearly 100 exhibitors.

"The fact that so many people from such a range of professions came together to discuss the challenges and solutions related to urban water efficiency underscores the conference's goal of sharing ideas and experiences on a global scale," said program Chairman Doug Bennett.

Conference highlights included the opening session October 7. Keynoting the opening session, Dan Bena, International Sustainability Director for PepsiCo, discussed his company's commitment to water efficiency and global environmental stewardship. Click here to view keynote presentation.

Speaking at the conference's keynote luncheon October 8, Dr. Jim Gill, inaugural chairman of Water Australia and past CEO of the Water Corporation of Western Australia, discussed the unprecedented challenges his country faces in addressing drought as well as the implications of climate change on water supplies around the world. Also during the conference, the U.S. EPA's WaterSense Program and the Alliance for Water Efficiency presented a joint banquet October 7 to announce the winners of this year's EPA WaterSense Partner of the Year Awards. In addition, RainBird Corp. on October 8 screened the winning entries in its Intelligent Use Of Water™ Film Competition.
