Session Description:

There is a global imperative to change the way we provide infrastructure for cities. The resource footprint of water supply, wastewater, and storm water systems need to be recalibrated to the new realities around population growth, rising economies, and climate change. Water leaders in the developed regions of the world are incorporating the best practices and the best thinking of water professionals, city planners, architects, developers, academics and activists from around the world.

The International Water Association's Cities of the Future program is a global program that highlights best practice and shares how leading cities are creating a new paradigm for infrastructure in the 21st Century.

This session will introduce the program, present the imperative for cities to change, provide examples of how that change is manifesting in cities around the world, and what it means for cities in the United States. Paul Brown, Co-Chair of the Cities of the Future program will lead a provocative and stimulating panel discussion about the opportunities, challenges, and issues we face in this time of transition. Members of the audience will be asked to participate in this compelling discussion about the future of 21st Century cities and the integrated approach and infrastructure we need to successfully address these global challenges.
