Call for Abstract Guidelines

You are invited to attend and participate in the second WaterSmart Innovations Conference and Exposition, October 6-8, 2010, in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the South Point Hotel and Conference Center.
Deadline and how to submit:
Abstracts may be submitted on-line at www.WaterSmartInnovations.com or via e-mail to patrick.watson@snwa.com no later than Friday, January 29, 2010.
Instructions to upload your abstract:
1. Go to http://www.watersmartinnovations.com/filestore/login.php
2. Sign up for an account or log into an existing account
3. Log in - you are taken directly to the Folders Page
4. Folders Page - click on Upload your abstract to this folder
5. Upload page - click on upload new file
6. Browse your files and insert your file
7. Type in a short description, including:
A. Topic (25 words or less)
B. Title (10 words or less)
C. Whether this is an Individual presentation or panel discussion
8. Click Upload and you are complete
You may submit multiple abstracts with your one log in account.
Notification of acceptance:
Candidates chosen as presenters will be notified by e-mail and postal mail no later than Friday, March 12, 2010.
Abstract submittal guidelines:
Professionals, scientists, government employees, organizations, public and private institutions, policy makers, students and all others working in an industry dealing with water conservation may submit an abstract for an oral presentation, panel discussion or workshop at this event.
The purpose of this conference is to broaden the knowledge of innovations in urban water efficiency including products, policies, techniques and ideas. All topics related to innovations in water conservation will be considered.

   Water Efficiency for Sustainable Building and Development
   Conservation Policy, Enforcement and Administration
   Community Outreach Programming
   Water Efficient Technologies, Appliances and Fixtures
   Alternative Water Supplies for Buildings and Communities-Reclaim/Recycle, Condensate and Rainwater Harvesting, Desalination
   Water Efficient Landscaping
   Drought and Shortage Management
   Water/Energy Relationships
   Recycled/Reclaimed Water
   Smart Irrigation Controllers
   Commercial/Institutional
   Conservation 101/How to Develop a Conservation Program
   Social Marketing Related to Environmental Topics
   Effluent Irrigation
   Community Design with Water in Mind
   Plumbing Code and Water Conservation
   Education (youth and adult)
   Water Loss Management
Presenters must pay their own travel expenses. Complimentary conference registration will be provided to all accepted participants for the day of their presentation.
Abstract Guidelines:
Abstracts should be approximately 200-300 words, single-spaced, and should clearly describe the topic being addressed.
All abstracts must include:
   Title of the proposed presentation (maximum of 10 words), panel discussion or workshop
   Author(s) name and affiliation(s)
   Contact Information - mailing address, email, phone and fax
Abstracts must be received by January 29, 2010. Abstracts that are commercial in nature will not be accepted.
Abstracts must be submitted in English.
Panel Session:
Panel sessions are a forum where experts engage in a discussion on a particular topic and encourage audience participation. The goal is to create a better understanding of the complex and sometimes contentious issues related to water conservation.
There is no required size to the panel; however, a panel consisting of three to five members is encouraged.
Selection of panel sessions will be based on the following criteria:
   Audience Participation: The topic must be one of interest to conference attendees and will foster discussion and debate.
   Panel Participants: The panel must consist of charismatic, knowledgeable and prepared participants who have varied experiences and opinions on the proposed topic.
   Moderator: The moderator must be effective in making sure the discussion remains structured, coherent and flows in an organized manner.
   Subject: The subject should be one that showcases and discusses a current topic in water conservation.
