Proposed Standard 191 Committee Meeting

The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) will host an open committee meeting Thursday, October 8, from 7:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. in the Cypress Room to discuss a proposed national water efficiency standard.

The meeting will focus on the proposed Standard 191, also known as the “Standard for the Efficient Use of Water in Building, Site, and Mechanical Systems.” If adopted, Standard 191 would establish requirements for the amount of water used to operate HVAC, plumbing and landscape irrigation systems in all buildings except one- to three-story residential.

ASHRAE is writing the standard in conjunction with the American Water Works Association, U.S. Green Building Council and American Society of Plumbing Engineers. All WaterSmart Innovations attendees are encouraged to attend and provide their input to the committee.
